Site Design & Credit Cards

This week in class we learned and discussed site design and credit card payments.  To help with my site design, I compared two successful food blog websites.  (I am interested in starting a food blog hopefully.)  The two food blogs I compared were “The Food Nanny,” and “Binging with Babbish.”  “The Food Nanny” is a blog I have been watching and following for years, and even before I got into it, my mom was a fan of their TV show!  So I remember hearing their voices in the kitchen YEARS before I even knew how to cook anything!  I have always loved how their entire focus is not on the food, it is on FAMILY!  Their message is that dinnertime brings family together, so we should make it important.  Anyways, I am very interested in starting a cookbook testing blog, with a similar theme and focus.  The other blog I compared, “Binging with Babbish,” is a food blog which my husband likes to watch.  The design of the two websites were actually quite different, but I did like how the food was front and center, and that the “Recipe” and “Shop” tabs were easy to locate and the entire blog was simple to navigate around.  The photography was amazing for both!  Taking good pictures of food can be challenging, but they have definitely both nailed it!  The pictures just draw you right in and make you want to spend forever on the website.  So those are a few things related to site design which I learned and hope to apply to my own website in the near future!

We also talked about credit card payments this week, by practicing with PayPal buttons, as well as considering the important questions and issues one might face when starting a PayPal payment situation!
